The weather in the morning was cold again. It was raining and the temperature was 7 degrees. I bushed my teeth and went to my friend’s apartment to have breakfast (bread + peanut butter). After eating, we went for our lesson; the lesson starts at 10 am in the morning. What I have learnt today was project management topic 2 and 3.
In topic 2, I learnt about different tendering methods and procedures. Some tendering methods are, open tendering which is open to all tenders to bid for the project. Another method is selective tendering which is a tender invited from selected contractors. In topic 3, I learnt about the contract arrangements. I have a better understanding about building contract and elements in a contract.
During break time, I went to the local school toilet. I realised that their toilet was a lot different compare to Ngee Ann Poly; I took some pictures of the toilet. The toilet was really simple looking, there were no mirrors at the basin area and worst of all, there were no toilet doors! If someone walks into the toilet while you doing your big business half way, I think it will be very embarrassing.
After lesson, we went to the road side stalls to have our lunch. Today I took some pictures of the road side stalls, as you can see from the pictures, the ground were filled with rubbish. I noticed that the locals here like to throw the food wrappers and other rubbish on the ground once they finish eating their food. I also noticed that many locals here like to eat their food as they were walking.
I guess this was part of their culture. After lunch, we took a taxi to the nearby shopping mall to shop. In the taxi I realised something that I have never seen in Singapore. As you can see in the photos I took below, there were actually metal bars behind the seat of the driver. This was to protect the drivers from thefts, I guess the crime rate there must be high that why they have to do that kind of prevention.
Another thing about taxi drivers here was that the drove really fast, and many people here likes to J walk. When we reached the shopping mall, there were really plenty of people, and the shopping mall was really huge. After walking for a few hours, we went to eat at the Mac Donald restaurant; the Mac Donald here was really different as compared to Singapore. They actually sell pork burger here in china and they have a special pie called the red bean pie, the taste was really good.
During the night, we went for dinner at the local KFC. The KFC here was also different, the KFC here sell egg tarts. The egg tarts contain blue berry and the taste was unique because I have never tired anything like this in Singapore’s KFC. After eating we took a taxi back, the cost of taking taxi here was cheap (less than $10 to get back to school apartment).
