The weather today was not so cold anymore and I can finally wear my three quarter pants to school. I woke up at 7.20 as my lesson starts at 8 am. The lesson today was interdisciplinary studies. It was taught by the local lecturer (Edith). What I have learnt today was about the culture of china. Different countries have their own culture.
The way the lecturer (Edith) explains on the topic (culture) was clear and easy to understand. I learnt that when we talk about culture, it mean the code of practice and their background. I also learnt about what makes up a culture. There is stuff like material (living), under material, we can talk about the climate of china which will decide the food they grow (fruits, vegetables). Under material we can also talk about the geometrical features of china. After talking about material, the lecturer explains on other stuffs that make up culture, they are society and spiritual.
I also learnt that there are two types or culture, one is individualist (I) and the other is collectivist (we). And I realised that china is actually a collectivist. The lecturer also taught us that in china, we must learn to address people in a correct manner. If we address people in a wrong manner, they might get offended. And we must address people in different area of china differently too. After lesson we went back, on our way back, we saw an artist. He earns a living by helping people to write name in an artistic form. My friend Jian Wen decided to write his name.
The artist was really good; he combines Jian wen name and drawing together. It was really a piece of art and it only cost about $1. I think that the artist is really experience as he can draw a nice drawing in less than 5 minutes. After lunch we went back to apartment to do our tutorial and blog. During the night we went out to eat. At night I do my laundry and pack my back to get ready for lesson the next day.
