Day 27 monday 30 march 09

My lesson today starts at 9 am. The weather was cold in the morning. Today lesson was project management topic 8 and 9. In topic 8, I learnt about site organisation, organising people on site, site organisation chart. Site organization= group of people involved in the construction is being organised to meet the project objectives, coordination of the various function groups in the company. Organising people on site= number of staff, responsibilities, relationships.

In topic 9, I learnt about planning techniques, project planning and project control. Project planning includes scheduling, resource planning and project costing. Project control= ensuring all activities are identified and included, and cost control. After lesson we went to shop in the nearby shopping mall.

I did not shop for anything, I went to their ‘’food court “in the shopping centre for lunch. The place look really empty, but I decided to try. I bought a plate of curry chicken fried rice, cost 6yuan. The taste was really unique as I have never tried that kind of fried rice in Singapore. The fried rice was better than I expected and I manage to finish the whole plate. After lunch, I went back to my apartment to take a nap. I woke up in the evening to do my blog and watched dvd.

For dinner, we took a taxi from si meh kou to the Carrefour shopping centre; we ate the Japanese stall (2nd time eating). I ate 3 bowls of rice plus beef, fish, vegetables, soup and desert. The food there was really delicious and price was reasonable (38 yuan). The boss of the shop was also a Singaporean, so she treated us spring rolls, I really enjoyed that dinner. Hubei is a really beautiful place and it is extent across Hangtze and Hanjiang River.

The weather temperature in Hubei can be sometimes really cold (-14 c) or humid (43 c) depends on the month. Compared with Singapore, our weather temperature is always between (20 plus to 30). I also learnt about some features about nature source in Hubei. There are 570 species of terrestrial vertebrates in Hubei; some of them are golden-hair monkey, leopard, white deer, white snake and white tiger.

Woke up around 11pm. Today we don’t have lesson as we are going on a tour to HuBei Provincial Museum. We board the bus at 1.30 pm and reach the place at around 2pm. We attend a music concert once we reached there. The music instrument that they used were Bronze bell, stone chimes, drums, qin( plucked instrument), bamboo flute and panpipes. The sound produce by all this unique instruments creates a piece of soothing music. After the concert, we visited the museum (exhibition of Chu culture).

Chu was the name of a state and a clan. Chu Stat lasted for 800 years until it was conquered by Qin in 223BC. During the 800 years, the Chu created rich and profound culture. In the museum I saw the sword of Gou Jian, the king of Yue late spring and autumn period. There were many interesting things to see in the museum. At the other part of museum, I learnt about (records on jiuliandun). It was an ancient tomb complex, lies on a mound stretching from north to south between wudian town and xinglong town in Zaoyang. There were more than 7300 burial articles unearthed.

I took a lot pictures in the museum but some of them were not clear as flash light was not allowed. Some of the interesting articles were the wooden crossbow with hunting scene painted with lacquer and bronze square pot with dragon-shaped ears. At the other part of museum I saw the (tomb of marquis Yi of Zeng). The tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng is located at Leigudun in the suburbs of Sui country in Hubei , and was excavated in 1978. It was the tomb of a feudal King buried 2400 years ago.

The tour to the museum was really eye opening; I learnt more about the culture and history of china. After the tour, the bus brought us back to the apartment, and I had my dinner at the road side stalls. I ate fried egg with tomatoes and a plate of rice, it was a simple dish but taste delicious.

Day 18 saturday 21 march 09

We don’t have to attend lesson today as it was Saturday. I woke up 7.20 am and we board the bus around 8.45am. We were going for a tour in Wuhan, Some of the places that we were be going are the sakura flower in one of the Wuhan university, the famous local food street and the olden castle of china.

The first stop we went was to watch the sakura flower; the tour guide told us that this was the best time of the year to watch the sakura flower. There were plenty of sakura flowers in Wuhan University because during War world II Japanese soldiers took over part china. Wuhan was one of the places that the Japanese had taken over. The government of Japan decided to import sakura flower to china so that Japanese soldiers in china will not miss their homeland in Japan so much. The sakura flower was really beautiful. There were mostly red or white in colour. The place was crowded with people, both locals and tourist. I took some pictures of the sakura flower.

It was really a good experience for me as this was my first time watching sakura and I always thought that sakura flower can only be found in Japan. After touring around in the Wuhan University, our next stop was the famous local food street. It was crowded with people and there were many food stalls. There were foods like, fried bananas, barbecue chicken wings, barbecue oysters, smelly toufu, ice cream, Fruits with a layer of sugar outside, tim sum and noodles. I tried their tim sum, the taste was a bit spicy but still delicious.

The smelly tou fu was not smelly enough compared with countries like Taiwan and Hong kong. I tried their Barbecue oysters with garlic; it was 4 for 10 yuan, the price was really cheap compared with Singapore. The taste of the oysters was juicy and nice. My friends bought the strawberries coated with sugar and I tried some too. They also sell many other kinds of food that I don’t get to see in Singapore, like the duck neck, small snails, red baby lobsters and black smelly tou fu.

The third stop we went was to look at those olden days castle. It was huge; we went up to the top of the castle to take pictures. The local guide also told us the history of the castle. We have two hours to tour around the place; I climb up to the highest part of the mountain with my friend to take some photos.

After the tour, the bus stops us at the Carrefour shopping mall. The six of us (cee group) had our dinner in a Japanese restaurant. The food was really good and price was reasonable. I paid 39 yuan for fish, chicken, beef, oysters, vegetables, soup, cake, and free flow of rice. I really enjoy myself there. When we finish our dinner, we went to Carrefour to buy some stuff. We took a taxi back after a long day.
