There is no lesson today as we are going to a condo for site visit. We board the bus in the afternoon and reached the place in 15 minutes time. We were accompanied by a local lecturer and a few local in charge there. From the site visit I saw the difference between china building technique and Singapore building technique.
Some differences that I notice are, our Singapore exit signs are green in colour, but in china they use blue colour for exit signs. The material and colour that they use to build the condo is also different, for example, they choose to use those colour that are more dull because of their weather condition in china, if they use those bright colours ,they will have to do maintenance as they colour will not last due to the weather. Some similar features that they have in the condo are, they have tight security, nice landscape and garden.
The locals brought us to tour around the condo, he explain to us the china latest architectural style (they build the balcony odd and even facing different sides). Mr wee also explain to us on the fire safety of the building, he explains to us the fire riser and the dry riser. He locals also brought us down to the condo basement car park, it looks similar to Singapore basement car park but their Springer system and line is sliver in colour and ours is red. I also observe that there are a lot of ventilation systems above the basement ceiling. The locals brought us up to a condo apartment to take a look; I can see that the architect and engineer really focus a lot on the safety of the building, on the first floor; there are fire alarm, security door and camera. In case of fire, the buildings also have two staircases for people to escape and the apartment doors are fire rated.
When we enter the six room apartment, Mr wee and the locals explain to us the different features in the apartment. The height of one apartment is about 3 m and in Singapore is around 2 plus m, so it makes the house much more spacious. In china if the windows are below a certain height, it is a must to fix railings to prevent children from dropping down. On our way back to the bus, I saw something orange in colour underneath every car at the car park, so I asked the locals what is the orange thing underneath the car and he explained to me.
For every owner who bought a apartment there, they are entitle to one car park lot, so when they drive the car out of their car park lot, to prevent people from using that lot, they can open the orange device to block people from parking their car into the lot. That is something that I have never seen it in Singapore. After the site visit, we went back to our apartment. I cook my own lunch and watch DVD in my apartment.
For dinner, we took a taxi to shopping mall to eat, I spend about 40 yuan on beef steak and taxi fare, it was considered cheap compared with Singapore.
